Well, it was another successful ALP Christmas Tea this year! We had a great turnout: students, parents, siblings, and other HFHS staff. We enjoyed a huge home-cooked meal with appetizers, a main meal, and many, many desserts and snacks, surrounded by all of the beautiful handmade decorations that our students created. During the meal we enjoyed viewing the annual ALP slideshow video that recapped our year so far. Of course, we had to play some Reindeer Games which joined friends and families on teams to compete for bragging rights. Really, we all won because we had a great time!

This bi-weekly newsletter is brought to you by one of our ALP parents. THANK YOU Anita Flansburg for your wonderful work and continued involvement and support in our ALP Program! Parents like you make the difference! Today we were able to visit the East Central Regional Library in Hinckley to hear about all of the services and resources they offer to our students and community - believe it or not, it's more than just paper books! The students came away with some great information and were excited about all of the possibilities and options available to them, a few even signed up for their first library card! Thank you to ECRL for hosting us!
Today marked the first of ALP's monthly Waffle Wednesdays. The students mixed up batter and used a commercial grade waffle iron to make waffles with a variety of toppings (syrups, blueberries, strawberries, whipped cream). We were even graced with the presence of our Principal and Head of Maintenance, who shared breakfast with us. Everyone had a great time, filled their bellies to the brim, and decided that this couldn't just be a onetime deal, and so a new ALP tradition was born! |
