To start the day today, we engaged in a little friendly balloon-stomping-popping competition. It was loud, it was fast, it was fun, and we all laughed (albeit some of us with plugged ears).
The students spent today at Changing Gaits learning team-building, life skills, and interaction with horses. Some of them were able to ride a horse for the first time! Ask a student about their experience!

Every morning we meet as a group for Advisory. Each day we let each other know how we're feeling that morning, what our goals are for that day, and answer a Question of the Day. We also complete activities that range from academic games, to current events, to life skills, to team-building, and more. Here are a few examples of some of the team-building games we have done in the month of October: Ruler Balancing, Helium Stick, Sentence-Building Team Relay, Get-to-Know-You Snowball Fight, and Knot Rope.
Our VEX Robotics team had been hard at work! Our robot now moves! ...at this point it only goes in circles... but we're on the way!
A few of us got to spend the day at the Audubon Center of the North Woods today helping to get firewood ready for this winter. We split and stacked logs and were rewarded for our hard work with a delicious meal from the Audubon's great cooks! It's always a treat to get to the Audubon Center; and what a beautiful day it turned into!
What a beautiful day for a visit to the Finlayson School Forest! Today, we worked on hauling out the old pieces of the dock, cleaning up the bench area, and grooming some hiking trails. If you flip through the pictures you will start to see the transformation of one of the hiking trails from overgrown to clear and groomed. We even had a few canine companions with to keep up morale.
