These last two weeks we have had a number of visitors to the ALP. Last week, Jen Elliot from Central Minnesota Jobs & Training Services talked to us about all of the services that CMJTS has to offer, like help achieving a high school diploma, career readiness, job skills, post-secondary education, life skills, acquiring housing, living on your own, and so much more! We look forward to working with Jen throughout the year. On Monday, Cheryl Bjerke from the St. Croix River Education District introduced us to the new Pine County PASS program and what it means for truant students. A few of our students have agreed to work with Cheryl on a project for this program. Stay tuned! Today, Deb Hekrdle, head cook for our schools, talked to us about getting the Fresh Fruits & Veggies Program (affectionately known in the ALP as "Tasty Treats") fired up again for this school year. The students were able to talk with Deb about how the program will run this year and working together to create a nutrition book about the snacks for the elementary kiddos.
